Creating Bonus Content

The call-to-action (also known as the ‘trigger’) to access a Bonus Content eBook could be:

  • clicking on a website link
  • reading a blog post
  • liking a social media profile, or
  • signing up for a newsletter

Bonus content eBooks tend to be very short because their aim is to whet the reader’s appetite and pique their curiosity in a specific product or service.  For this reason, bonus content is often quite focused on specific products and/or referencing branded websites, as this is ideally where the author would like the reader to end up eventually.

Gleam.io offers a variety of apps that allows users to capture leads from bonus content.  I have used the platform many times to create pop-ups and in-page buttons offering bonus content rewards if the user is to complete a specific action.

Among many uses, it allows readers to unlock additional benefits (such as hidden content, freebies, promotional items or eBooks) based on almost any imaginable user action. Readers are simply directed to a target page on your website via the user-friendly Gleam platform after they’ve completed the action you desire.
